Synopsis

The development and deployment of BPL systems and services in Asia has been patchy to say the least. The high technology market leaders in the region, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore, have been running pilot systems and trials of various kinds. But there is little evidence of any major commercial roll-out of BPL, apart from one significant deployment reported in Hong Kong. Whilst research into the technology is proceeding, there does not yet appear to be any strong commitment to any large scale operations at an early stage. This report looks at activities associated with BPL development across the Asian region.
