Synopsis

Globalstar LP is a Limited Partnership company formed in 1991 by a consortium of the world’s leading telecommunications companies to develop, launch, and operate the Globalstar low-Earth-orbit satellite communications system. Its Bermuda operation is called Globalstar Telecommunications Ltd. It was founded by Loral Space & Communications and Qualcomm. Globalstar has evolved into a global wireless mobile and fixed voice, data, and facsimile telecommunications system. Following severe financial problems in 2001, the company was delisted from Nasdaq. In an auction following Chapter 11 proceedings, Globalstar and its creditors selected Thermo Capital Partners as its new owner in April 2003. The transfer was completed in April 2004.
