Synopsis

Leap is a wireless communications carrier. In the US, it offers service under the brand Cricket. In each of its markets, it uses 100% digital CDMA networks. By March 2002, Cricket had 1.45 million subscribers in 40 markets in the USA. Due to financial problems, it has sold off all of its subsidiaries except for the Cricket operations. During 2002 its financial problems deepened and it was delisted from Nasdaq. During early 2003 it started defaulting on its loans, and was looking at restructuring operations.
